Hi there and welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you dropped by. I’d like to invite you to join me on a journey. In this thing called life, we all have ups and downs, different seasons of the good, the bad and the ugly. Well, this past year has been one of those “down” seasons for me. (If you want to read the long story, check out the page “My Journey…Confessions of a Good Girl.”)
I’ve been a follower of Jesus for a long time – about 30 years, actually. Over those years, I formed a theology and built a life of faith and practice that guided me everyday. I was consumed with doing “the right thing” and I felt like a pretty good girl most of the time. But this year, through a series of circumstances, God lovingly brought me to the end of myself and opened my eyes to the ugliness of this “good girl mentality.” He let me descend into a really deep, dark pit. And in that dark place, my faith kind of crumbled. Oh, the foundation didn’t. Jesus, the Solid Rock, my Savior and my God – He didn’t change. And His Word the Bible remained constant as well. He is my foundation. I am saved from my sins by His precious blood shed at the cross. Through His life, His death, and His resurrection, I am a child of God. His Word tells me this, and I stake my life upon it.
Beyond that, God is rebuilding my faith – a faith based not on how well I perform for Him, for others, for myself. A faith based on the saving and sanctifying gospel – the good news of Jesus both for salvation and for moment-by-moment Christianity. I’m digging deeply into His Word to understand the truths of Scripture – asking the Holy Spirit, who guides us into all truth (John 16:13), to teach me what to believe and how to live it out.
So will you come with me? Will you join me in drawing near to the One who holds all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3) – the dazzling Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us (Gal 2:20) – not to make us “good people” who keep all the rules, but to make us trophies of His grace?
